1. What is Sea Buckthorn oil? Where does it come from?

Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae Rhamnoides) is a deciduous tree or shrub naturally occurring over very large territories in Europe and Asia. Its natural distribution area includes China, Mongolia, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Great Britain, France, Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Finland, Sweden, and Norway. The cultivated, super-high-vitamin varieties of Sea Buckthorn, famous for the healing and health-promoting properties of oil derived from their berries, have been developed and are currently grown and harvested in the beautiful Altai Mountains of Russian Siberia.

Sea Buckthorn is known in China, Russia and Europe as one of nature’s most incredible medicinal plants. Its small, bright orange berries have been cherished for centuries for their truly incredible healing, nutritive and therapeutic qualities. The richly colored oil produced from Sea Buckthorn berries is so abundant in vitamins, antioxidants, and other healing compounds that many believe that Sea Buckthorn must have been created by some ancient plant-breeder. Sea Buckthorn oil contains record quantities of carotenoids (provitamin A), tocopherols (vitamin E), phylloquinone (vitamin K), as well as other vitally important healing and health-promoting vitamins, fatty acids, and micro-elements.

2. How long has Sea Buckthorn oil been used as a healing remedy? What are its principal medicinal uses?

Sibu Yidian - the classic Tibetan medical book written in the 8th century AD - devotes thirty chapters to the medicinal and nutritional uses of Sea Buckthorn. In India, Sea Buckthorn is an important part of traditional Ayurveda. It is absolutely essential in the Chinese Pharmacopeia. In Mongolia, it has long been seen as a source for indefatigable life energy - which is why, it is said, Genghis Khan and his armies drank the juice of the Sea Buckthorn berry to increase stamina and speed up the healing of wounds.

Medicinal uses of Sea Buckthorn oil are well documented in Asia and Europe. Clinical tests on its medicinal uses were first performed in Russia during the 1950s. Sea Buckthorn oil was formally listed in the Pharmacopoeia in 1977, and clinically tested in Russia and China on numerous occasions. The most important pharmacological functions attributed to Sea Buckthorn oil are anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, analgesic, and regenerative. Based both on many centuries of traditional use, and on modern scientific research and clinical studies, Sea Buckthorn oil has been proven to be an effective natural remedy for all health problems related to damaged mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract, including the following widespread conditions:

• Mouth ulcers (also called aphthae, or canker sores)
• Sore throat and strep throat
• Esophagitis (inflammation of the esophagus) and Barrett’s esophagus
• Acid reflux (GERD)
• Recurrent, hard to treat peptic ulcers
• Ulcerative colitis (inflammation and ulceration of colon mucosa)
• Crohn’s disease
• Diverticulosis and diverticulitis

3. How effective is Sea Buckthorn oil in alleviating the pain associated with mouth ulcers (canker sores) and in accelerating their healing?

A mouth ulcer or canker sore is a painful open sore inside the mouth caused by a break in the mucous membrane. The condition is also called aphthous stomatitis or aphthous ulcer, especially if there are multiple or recurring sores.

For many centuries, Sea Buckthorn and its all-natural healing oil have been successfully used to treat canker sores and other mucous-membrane-related disorders. When used for treating canker sores, it starts working on contact by providing a potent analgesic (pain relieving) and anti-microbial effect. In addition, it considerably speeds up the healing process through its unique tissue-regenerating action.

Sea Buckthorn oil was used on a massive scale for pain relief and treatment of radiation-induced mucositis (mouth sores) in victims of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident. It has also been used by Russian cosmonauts for protection against radiation-related mucosal damage in space.

4. Have the therapeutic effects of Sea Buckthorn oil on canker sores been tested and confirmed clinically?

The therapeutic effects of Sea Buckthorn oil on canker sores may be summarized as 4 “A’s” – Analgesic, Antioxidant, Anti-inflammatory and Anti-bacterial. The pain-relieving, healing and regenerative effects of Sea Buckthorn oil on canker sores and other forms of mouth ulcers have been proven in a number of clinical studies.

In one of the best-known clinical studies of the efficacy of Sea Buckthorn oil in treating canker sores, the oil was used topically 3-4 times a day on 60 children suffering from ulcerative stomatitis. Considerable pain relief was recorded on the very first day of Sea Buckthorn oil application. All the sixty cases significantly improved after two days of treatment. Fifty five cases were completely cured after 3 to 5 days of treatment, and two severe cases were cured after 8 days of treatment.

The analgesic and healing effects of Sea Buckthorn oil on ulcerative diseases of mucous membranes were also confirmed by additional studies. Topical application of the oil was effective in treating patients with stomatitis. Oral administration of Sea Buckthorn oil improved ulcers caused by irradiation therapy (carotenoids and vitamin E in the oils were suggested to be responsible for the pronounced tissue-regenerative effects observed). In yet another clinical study, treatment with Sea Buckthorn oil for four weeks relieved the symptoms of dry mouth (xerostomia) and improved the general condition of the mouth mucosa.

5. What is palmitoleic acid (also called omega-7)?

Sea Buckthorn oil contains from 35 to 40 percent of a 16-carbon monounsaturated fatty acid called palmitoleic acid, also known as omega-7. The only other known plant source of this rare omega-7 fatty acid is macadamia nut oil, but Sea Buckthorn oil contains almost twice as much (and many times as much as any other source of palmitoleic acid, whether plant or animal). Palmitoleic acid is believed to have a potent antiviral, antibacterial, and healing effect in humans. It is also similar to lipids naturally occurring in skin sebum, and is believed to provide important healing and anti-aging benefits for problem skin. Sea Buckthorn oil has been successfully used to treat such widespread skin problems as rosacea, eczema, and acne.

There are presently over 200 therapeutic and nutritional products made from Sea Buckthorn worldwide. In addition to being used as a pharmaceutical for healing burns and wounds, as well as ulcerative and inflammatory disorders such as canker sores, esophagitis, acid reflux, and colitis, it has also become a very popular daily supplement believed to provide the following additional health benefits:

7. How is your Sea Buckthorn oil different from other available brands?

Our richly colored, extra thick and ultra-fresh Sea Buckthorn oil comes from super-high-vitamin Russian varieties of Sea Buckthorn organically grown in our own orchard high in the Altai Mountains of Russian Siberia. In the former USSR, these special varieties of Sea Buckthorn were a closely guarded secret, because they were developed as part of a special nutrition program for Soviet cosmonauts. Our Sea Buckthorn oil is the first internationally available oil made from these special Sea Buckthorn varieties characterized by the highest vitamin and mineral content.

Most other brands of Sea Buckthorn oil currently available in North America are made of berries harvested from wild-growing Sea Buckthorn plants of unknown origin and inconsistent nutritional value. Because of very low yields of wild-growing Sea Buckthorn plants, they are often overexploited and damaged during harvesting, causing serious and sometimes irreversible environmental harm to fragile mountain ecosystems.

On the contrary, our Sea Buckthorn oil is made from select, highest-grade Sea Buckthorn berries grown in full conformity with USDA organic requirements in a specially designed, eco-friendly Sea Buckthorn orchard. Our Sea Buckthorn berries are picked at the peak of their biological activity and cold-processed mechanically using our proprietary technology without any chemical solvents, refined carrier oils, or carbon dioxide: nothing added, nothing taken away. The resulting oil is truly unmatched in its purity, potency, and overall quality.

Last, but not least, because we have a fully integrated growing and production operation allowing us to keep our costs under control, we are able to offer this exceptional oil to you at an absolutely unbeatable price. You will not find a better Sea Buckthorn oil anywhere in the world for any price – we guarantee it!

Because we are absolutely positive that you will love our all-natural Sea Buckthorn oil, it is fully covered by our 100% Money-Back Guarantee. If you are not satisfied with it for any reason – we will give you a full refund, no questions asked. None of our competitors offer this kind of guarantee for their Sea Buckthorn oils.
